Hello, my voyagers. Today, we’re taking a small break from my regular bookish/writing content to dive into one of my newest obsessions: BTS. I’m pretty new to the fanbase (frequently called ARMY), and I wanted to share some of my BTS thoughts and opinions with you all.
I’m always a little hesitant to post things that aren’t part of my brand or part of my usual content, but I think you all enjoy seeing me fangirl about my obsessions? If you do enjoy these little, slightly unusual posts, please let me know in the comments because I definitely take your feedback into consideration when planning and creating my content. 😉
Also, for those who may not know all of the members, I’ve provided a quick little cheat sheet below because I 100% will refer to them by different names in this post. To make you hate me a little bit less, I’ve bolded the name that I typically call them

When did you discover BTS?
March 2023, so I’m a baby ARMY. *nervous laugh* My first exposure to BTS was actually through my Instagram video feed. I was scrolling, and I think it was a video of Jungkook that pulled up. I was intrigued, so I watched it and before I knew what was happening, I was completely invested in these seven Korean men and their silly little shenanigans. I hadn’t heard a single song, but I fully adored these men as people, and I think that was a really great way for me to start this journey.
What song did you hear first?
When I realized that I was becoming a fan of BTS, I told my friends and we started a group chat. I told them that they had the power to choose my first BTS song, so one of them gave me two options: Big Sad or Hot V. I chose Hot V, which meant Singularity was the first BTS song I heard. (Big Sad was Spring Day, in case you were curious.)
In case you want to know more about my initial dive into BTS, I made a playlist that documents my journey. It starts out pretty accurate with the order that I heard their songs, but then just descends into actual chaos because I started adding songs in batches. That being said, I do think it’s a pretty accurate depiction of my introduction to BTS.
What song made you a fan?
War of Hormone. This was my third song, and my friend sent it because I needed exposure to the “cringy” era. Ironically enough, that was my first favorite song, and from there I was gone.
Who was your first bias?
RM. He’s the leader and the one who speaks the most English, so I connected with him first.
Who is your current bias?
Taehyung. He very quickly became my beloved (yes, I literally call him beloved, and it is now a running joke with my friends). His looks were probably what attracted me first, but then I fell in love with his vocals, his unique personality, his love for the other members, and his genuine soul. He seems so kind and generous with his fans, and that immediately made me fall for him.
Who is your bias wrecker?
Jungkook. He’s the baby of the group, and he genuinely just has the sweetest heart. He’s also not too hard on the eyes, lol. He has the loveliest soul, and he completely tries to wreck my bias every single day.
What are your top 5 songs?
That being said, this is a cruel question so here’s the playlist of all my top songs (since there’s no way to choose only five).
What song have you listened to the most?
Probably Winter Bear. It was the first solo song by Taehyung that I found and instantly connected with on an emotional level. It’s a song that he wrote for his grandmother after she passed away, and it just speaks to grief in a way that resonates with me deeply.
What is your favorite solo song?
Again, this is an impossible question, so I’m just going to put my favorite solo song(s) for each member:

What is your favorite album?
Love Yourself 結 ‘Answer’ because it, collectively, has the most songs that I love.
What is your favorite music video?
I Need U (original version). They have so many incredible music videos, but this one gives me chills every time I watch it. The way each member portrays a unique struggle alongside the bittersweet memories and pain of growing up just makes me so emotional.
I do also want to add a warning for this music video. It’s an extended version of the official video that has more graphic content, including Jungkook getting beat up for like three minutes straight (I’m exaggerating, it’s not actually three minutes) and Taehyung stabbing his abusive father-figure with a broken beer bottle. There might be other additions, but those are the main two moments I’ve noticed. So, all of that to say, viewer discretion is advised with this one.
What is your favorite choreography?
The choreography for Run BTS. I truly think that my love for this choreography is only beat by Taehyung himself (who is actually obsessed with this dance).
What is your favorite lyric?
I WILL NOT CHOOSE JUST ONE LYRIC. *clears throat* Sorry, this is a very, VERY cruel question, and I’m tired of complying, so here are some of my favorite lyrics.

Who is your favorite vocalist?
I refuse to choose between the vocal line (Jin, Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook). I also refuse to exclude Suga because his vocals literally SLAY. So, basically I’m just done answering the questions seriously, I guess.
Who is your favorite rapper?
Okay, I lied, because I actually can answer this one seriously. My favorite rapper is Suga. Jhope is an excellent rapper, as is RM, but there’s just something special about Suga and his particular rapping that hits different.
Who is your favorite dancer?
All of them???
What is your favorite BTS era?
Literally any era that isn’t their military era. I love that I came in now because, like yeah, I get like 10+ years of content, but they also aren’t together right now, so there’s that small devestating fact. *sobbing*
What is your favorite performance?
This performance of We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal. It’s not vocally perfect, but it’s the performance that I would tattoo on my forehead if I could. They put their hearts and souls into this song every time they sing it, and I will never not absolutely adore this one.
Have you seen any of their other projects? (Run BTS, BTS Gayo, BT21, BTS World, etc.)
I’m an avid consumer of Run BTS and I recently started playing BTS World. I haven’t watched Bon Voyage yet, but I will eventually.
I also love BT21, but I don’t currently have any merch because all of the Tata merch I could buy is A LIE BECAUSE HE ISN’T LOPSIDED.
Do you keep up with BU?
No, not currently. I hope to read through all the lore someday, but I haven’t had the time or energy to do it yet.
